What happens if you don't drink enough water? Well, if you drink too little water it is called dehydration and can cause tiredness, poor concentration, a lower level of alertness, regular headaches and mood swings. It can also effect your digestion and lead to constipation, with severe dehydration causing kidney stones or a blood clot, heart attack or strokes.
 
How much water should I be drinking daily?
 
It is unlikely that in our modern life we are drinking too little water. Doctors opinions are divided, but if you read Cosmo, your are probably packing a water cooler in your handbag. Many doctors now say that the human body needs approximately one litre of additional straight water intake a day. This is true only if you have a healthy diet and drink other beverages such as fruit juice, certain carbonated drink, One unit of red wine or dark beer daily and get your 5 a day fruits and vegetables.

Getting your 2.5 litres of daily water
 
If you have a healthy diet with fruits and vegetables at 5 a day, your body absorbs between 0.5L to 1L litre of fluids a day. If you then have a cup of coffee, or tea, a glass of fruit juice and or a diet soda, that is another 1 litre of daily fluid. If you have a glass of red wine or a pint of dark beer, not more, then you have reached your 2 litres daily. Leaving you with just half a litre to one litre of pure water to drink.
 
So yes it is easy to get your daily water fill. This "always carry a bottle of water" fad is a media fad for anorexic models and tabloid columnists hungry for sensationalism. Water is good for your skin and the functioning of your organs, so listen to your body and look at your urine that needs to be light yellow and clear. If it is clear and white, leave the water camel at home. Oh and there are no risks of drinking too much pure spring water, other than not having a toilet nearby when you need one.
 
Drinking healthy fruit juice?

100% fruit juice with no added sugar  are are perfect sources of essential vitamins and minerals, as well as being an ideal source of fluid replenishment. Pure 100% fruit juices contains equal or higher amounts of vitamins and nutrients then the equal volume of fruit and have the same phytochemicals as fresh fruit juice is considered part of the  5 a day requirements.
 
Fruits drinks selection
 
Always select 100% pure fruit juice. It is less important if it is from concentrate or not as long as it is Pure. Unfortunately many parents and adults still select Bad Fruit Drinks. Fruit drinks will contain as little as 10% of fruit juice the rest is unhealthy chemicals, colourings, additives conservatives preservatives, etc. These drinks carry very little nutritional value, some claim to have added vitamins, but remember that most often the for of added vitamin is not easily absorbed by young kids and thus useless.  They are not the same! so use a bit of common sense. Look for no added sugar, preservatives or colouring juices. Yes it slightly more  expensive, but they are the real deal and are excellent source of fluid, vitamins, minerals and your lovely antioxidants.
 
Staying away from soft drinks?
 
There is no nutritional value in soft drinks, Period!
 

Soft drinks are not good. It is as simple as that. The sugar content in a single can of soft drink is the equivalent of your normal daily sugar intake. There are no nutrient in soft drinks that the body needs. Do not kid yourself when opening those cans of fizzy drink.

Diet sodas are not much better. Granted they are low in calories and have no sugar, but the artificial sweeteners have many effects including stimulating hunger and developing carb cravings.

The Noni fruit comes from a plant called the Great Morinda also know as the Indian mulberry plant  and Aal in Hindi. The word Noni for Noni juice is actually used in Hawaii and in Tahiti is called the Noni plant. But no one calls it the "miracle weight loss plant" other than shrewd marketers and naive buyers.
 
The Noni plant grows in forests, and rocky and sandy shores where the richest concentration of Noni fruit being in French Polynesia. The beauty of French Polynesian woman is most likely due to genetics and an overall healthy and nutrient rich balanced diet and not the Noni plant.The Noni plant as a whole is used for tonics, this includes the bark, leaves and pulp, not just the fruit.  In Asia the entire plant is used for irritated eyes, skin irritations,
stomach and respiratory difficulties. But that is the use of the entire plant. Just like my grandmother used garlic cataplasm for chest colds, each plant and fruits have their own vitamins and nutrient attributes.
 
Noni juice benefits, don't believe the Hype!
 
Lets be very clear, as a health drink, there are no medical studies supporting the miracle weight loss claims of Noni juice. It is a simple marketing ploy to get consumers and dieters to pay a fortune for diluted Noni juice. if it is recommended to drink 100% pure fruit juice, the rule applies for Noni juice. Yet it is often sold at diluted % of less than 50% for exorbitant amounts of money. Noni juice, in a clean pure state is no different from other juices. As pure apple juice has different contributions of vitamins and minerals than Orange juice, Noni juice is the same. Do not expect miracles. If you want to have it, fine, it does have healthy properties as a normal healthy drink. But, if Noni juice a was a miracle health drink than the French Polynesians would all be multimillionaires driving BMWs, would be drinking 10 litres of Noni juice a day and live for 200 years, but they don't. Use a bit of common sense and stick to a healthy diet, even if it doesn't include Noni juice, you will save money, if not embarrassment in the long run and feel good about it.

Healthy benefits of Mangosteen juice?
 
Origins of the Mangosteen fruit
 
The Mangosteen fruit comes from the tropical evergreen tree  that grows to be 7 to 20 meters tall. The fruit is edible and of purple colour, small in size and round. It is a flavour full fruit with a creamy texture and sweet with a citrus type taste. The Mangosteen fruit grows in warm climates only where temperatures below 4degrees Celsius will kill the plant. It is also found in central Africa and notably in the Democratic republic of Congo.
 
The fruit can be found in Europe and the United States, either frozen or canned notably due to the dangers of importing fruit flies. Some trees do produce Mangosteen fruit and their is a small production of Mangosteen juice in Hawaii but for protection reasons it is not imported fresh to the continent.

It was once said that Queen Victoria would pay handsomely for Mangosteen fruit or Mangosteen juice. But that is pretty much it when it comes to miracle cures. Unlike Noni fruit or Noni juice or plant, there are no real uses of it in any culture of using Mangosteen fruit or the tree itself to treat ailments of any sort. As a health drink, there is even less medical research and evidence to prove that it has any above normal health benefits let alone for super human health or even if it has any at all properties of weight loss and dieting value. Other then the original taste it is as healthy as any other natural fruit juice, is part of a five a day... if you can find some.

Alcohol consumed in moderation is now thought to be beneficial to your health. In analysing the Mediterranean diet and eating habits in France, studies have shown that drinking the right types of alcoholic beverages can  reduce certain risks of coronary heart disease. The grape peel contains high levels of antioxidants and essential nutrient that protect against heart disease and cholesterol.

The other reason why white wine is not as healthy is due to its fabrication. Because the actual nutrients found in the peel are no longer there, in order to stop the fermentation process and stabilize the white wine, sulphates and other chemicals are added. Thus the reason why hangovers and strong headaches are more common with white wine then red wine.

Caffeine is a drug that acts as a stimulant to the heart and central nervous system, and is also known to increase blood pressure. Caffeine effects are considered to be short term effects thought the reality is that there are no long term studies on the effect of caffeine on high blood pressure in the long term. Caffeine can have an adverse pressure effect on hyper sensitive people as well as when large quantities of caffeine are taken every day. One or two cups of coffee a day are not considered bad for the health. As for pregnant women, caffeine should be strictly controlled, better yet avoided all together and prenatal women should refrain form exceeding 300mg of caffeine per day.

Coffee is now considered as a healthy drink when consumed moderately. Coffee beans are a source of  antioxidants. These antioxidants prevent the sun from causing free-radical damage to the plants. That's why they may be good for the human body. A number of researchers believe that certain nutrients in coffee can decrease the risk of Parkinson's disease as well as the development of Alzheimer's and certain forms of heart and colon cancer.

Green tea raises the bodies rate of thermogenesis witch is the rate of calorie burn. This increase in metabolic rate due to catechin polyphenols contained in green tea  increases the speed of fat oxidation. As well, because Green tea in rich in rare antioxidants and other nutrients is can reduce the risks of bowel disease and  high cholesterol, as well as certain liver problems. Green tea is also recommended for weight loss.
